With the fast approaching FCC mandated deadline of January 1, 2013, Boonville Fire Chief David Prichard is nearing one hundred percent compliance. Almost two years ago, Wells spoke with the Chief about the upcoming narrowband mandate issued by the FCC. Wells Communications made arrangements to do a complete Preventative Maintenance check on Booneville Fire’s complete 2-way radio system. As older non-compliant radios developed issues or as new vehicles were purchased, those out-dated radios have been replaced.
As the deadline closes in on the 2 year mark, Wells Communications and Booneville Fire completed the installation of the largest and most expensive piece of equipment, the base station. Chief Prichard was aware of the cost of this equipment far enough in advance to secure the funds to make these changes. The order was placed and the equipment was installed. Since the base station was being replaced and the antenna was over ten years old and weather had taken its toll on the antenna and transmission line the entire site was updated. This gave them another advantage, increased coverage!! With the new equipment, coverage and clarity both increased dramatically.
