Imagine: You are called out of bed and find yourself behind the wheel of a Town plow truck during a nor-east-er, at 3 in the morning. There are no other plow trucks in site, snows blowing sideways, limbs hanging over the road so low you can’t know for sure you didn’t miss a turn. Plagued with 20 years of coverage issues that caused unreliable communication, the Town took action, and for a very reasonable investment, replaced the radios with ones that now provide their own private communication environment, with town wide coverage that dwarfs that of the old, now all-but-abandoned system.

Pittstown’s new mountaintop system operation is maintained by Wells Communications. For a modest fee, the radios in the Town trucks (now referred to as subscribers on the system) communicate through mountain-top trunked repeaters, which enhance their coverage, reliability, and most of all, safety for their operators and more efficient flow of Town resources when emergency assistance is needed.
